What’s the deal with the name “catclaw?”
The catclaw acacia (Senegalia greggii) isn’t a tree that stands out. Unlike the stately Joshua tree, this sleeper favorite among desert dwellers is little more than a landscape feature at a glance. But once you recognize it, you can’t help but notice it everywhere. Its subtle presence lends color and texture that help define the look and feel of the American southwest.
